Music theory is the study of the way music is organized. Julia teaches in the style of Mimi Zweig, which focuses on natural physical motions nurtured in a non-judgmental environment.

She also taught group violin lessons through the YOURS and ViVO El Sistema Projects, Skinner North Classical School and South Loop Elementary School and coached sectionals for Chicago Youth Symphony, Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra and University of Illinois. Before moving to New York City, Julia resided in San Francisco and Chicago where she performed and maintained a private teaching studio as well as being on faculty at various music schools. She has performed with the Hawaii, New World, Monterey, Marin, Vallejo, Pacific Chamber, Illinois, Dubuque and Rockford Symphonies the Chicago Chamber, Lincolnwood Chamber, and Renovo String Orchestras the Berkeley Chamber Opera, Opera Cultura, and Orchestra Gloria among others. Julia is a member of the Sarasota Opera Orchestra and has been the seated concertmaster of the Chicago Arts Orchestra. Julia started playing violin at age 5 and received a bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance from Northwestern University where she also studied violin pedagogy. She is currently an Adjunct String Faculty member at New York University, where she recently completed her Master of Music after receiving her Bachelor of Music from the Manhattan School of Music in 2017. Her educational goal for her students is for them to develop a deeper love of the violin/viola and to gain not only musical skills, but important life skills from the violin lessons such as discipline, patience, and perseverance. Her students have all successfully passed exams they have elected to take, such as the ABRSM and NYSSMA exam. Shannon has been teaching the violin and viola for six years, and has experience teaching violin lessons both in music schools and privately to both adults and kids. During her time in this orchestra she had the opportunity to perform on the elite stages of Carnegie Hall and the Strand Theater with the Atlantic City Ballet. Shannon was the orchestra violist for the Off-Broadway production of Comfort Women: A New Musical at Playwrights Horizons’ Peter Jay Sharp Theater, and she held the position of Assistant Principal viola in the Garden State Philharmonic for two seasons. Violist Shannon is an active freelance musician and violin/viola teacher. As an educator, Camille previously served as Adjunct Violin Faculty at New York University, and now enjoys teaching private violin lessons and classes to adults and kids from beginner to advanced. Camille recorded on an “American Classics” album for NAXOS label in 2017 with the National Orchestral Institute, which was nominated for a Grammy for “Best Orchestral Performance.” In addition to classical music, Camille enjoys working in all musical genres and has performed on the Roy Orbison hologram tour and recorded for Audiomack’s Trap Symphony with rapper Trippie Redd. As an orchestral musician, Camille has performed with the National Orchestral Institute, The Chelsea Symphony, and New Rochelle Opera, among others. Camille’s primary violin teachers have been Yuval Yaron and Naoko Tanaka. Prior to attending NYU, Camille received her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Violin instructor Camille received her Master of Music degree from New York University in 2017, where she was honored with an award for Excellence and Outstanding Achievement in the Graduate String Studies Program.
